Welcome to URKIDE, a school founded in 1882 by the Ursuline Congregation in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and declared an Associated Worker Cooperative of Public Utility in 2007.
URKIDE School currently has 52 classrooms, 1,426 students and more than 100 teaching and non-teaching staff.
In 2003, URKIDE was one of the first Basque schools to adopt a trilingual educational model in Basque, English and Spanish. Since then, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) pedagogy has been applied in its classrooms. This way of working is backed up by nineteen years of experience in which several graduating classes of students have already been competently prepared for new academic or professional challenges.
Moreover, in the context of a professional reflection carried out in 2015, the centre’s new pedagogical framework was born: URKIDE BIDEAN. The idea of the pathway suggests both the progress of each student towards a good version of themselves as well as that of the school itself, which has opted for a quality didactic design that is constantly being updated.
MANAGEMENT ENDORSED BY THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS RECOGNITIONS
Every day we build a common project in which students, families and staff take part.
“It takes the whole tribe to raise a child”.
An inclusive, active, pluralistic, participatory, democratic and open to the environment project that allows us to be a close, innovative, committed centre, attentive to diversity and, above all, agile to adapt to changes and new needs.
A state-subsidised centre that bases its management on the attention to students and families, on the continuous improvement of all its activities, and on the competence and updating of its teaching staff.
